Source: Good Old Days magazine (Oct. 1978) Title of the article: Grandmother Josephine & Her Family Author: Eunice Voland The author's grandmother's name is Josephine Francoise Leocadie Angelique L'heureux. Born July 13, 1838 in Calais, France. Josephine's father's name was Pierre. Pierre owned a bakery which he eventually lost. His brothers & sisters were wealthy and he was ashamed and decided to move his family to America. Josephine's mother's name was Marieanne. Josephine had one brother, Louis. They set sail for America in 1848 on "The Serumfor". Louis was eighteen at the time and Josephine celebrated her 10th birthday on the ship. They landed in NY after six weeks on the Atlantic Ocean. They eventually moved to Fort Detroit (now Detroit, MI) than moved again to Swan Creek (now Fair Haven). Josephine married Jean (John) Lucien Villerot, who sailed across the ocean on "The Probus" in the same year as Josephine's family sailed across. They lived in Ray Center, MI for years where they raised sheep and young steers. They had five children: Alnise, Ernest, Lucien, Lucy and Emma. Emma married Oran Freeman Arnold, also of Ray Center. They had six children. The author of the article is the fourth child of Emma & Oran Arnold. Photos: 1) Frog Mt.
