Would be interested in specific items of evidence for this family group.

Various secondary sources say Sarah Laforce married Booth Napier about 1700 (no sources given). Booth (also spelled "Bouth") Napier appears in various Goochland County documents in the mid 1700s, and was granted a patent for 400 acres on both sides of Island Creek, on the north side of the Rivanna River, in Albemarle County (1 Dec 1748, PatBk 27, p 23). That same patent was re-patented 14 Feb 1761 by Rene Napier.

It appears at first impression that Booth Napier and wife Sarah Laforce had at least three sons -- Rene, Booth, and John. Rene m. Rebekah Hurt and had six children from 1766 to 1774 (Lucy, Shelton, Thomas, Sarah Garland, Rene, Chloe). Booth junr m. Christian Norvil, had a son William born in 1765, and died about 23 Apr 1770 (date of funeral). John m. Mary Champion, and a son Moses was born in 1764. Thus each of these sons of Booth & Sarah were born in the 1720s, 1730s, or early 1740s. This would suggest that 1700 was the approximate year of birth of Sarah Laforce, not the date of marriage (unless there is a missing generation).

A missing generation might also help the logic and evidence on the Laforce side. I find it a bit of a stretch to say that Rene Laforce who married Sarah ____ was born in 1660 and that he had no children until Rene, Sarah, Rachel and Judith were born from about 1723 to 1728. This would have him STARTING a family at the age of 60. Possible; but unlikely.

A Peter Laforce is mentioned as having been transported to Virginia in a patent granted to Thomas Tyas, dated 20 Oct 1668, for 500 acres in Surry County. (PB 7, p 670) Given the time it took to obtain a patent, any such transportation would have been before 1665. Rene who is mentioned in Byrd's diary easily could have been his son or nephew.

It is often repeated that Rene was born in France in 1660 and died in 1728 in Goochland. What evidence proves that the person born in 1660 was the same one who died in 1728, rather than the latter being son to the former?

Nor have I found an explanation for Trephanah Laforce, who married 10 Apr 1766 Peter Farrar. (Note that Rene's patent in Goochland dated 20 Feb 1723 adjoined Thomas Farrar.) She had seven children by him and was too young to be the daughter of the Rene who died in 1728.

Likewise, no explanation for Zulima Laforce, who married Robert Cothan (Cawthon, Cawthron, Cauthon, etc.) 11 Feb 1760, and had at least three children in the 1760s -- Keturah, Richard and Sarah. Again, she is too young to have been the child of Rene who died 1728.

Have seen no evidence that they were children of the Rene who married Agnes Mosby before 1756. There is no evidence that this Rene had a brother. It is possible that they were illegitimate daughters of Rachel, for they had the Laforce name.

My guess is that the Rene born in 1660 had a son Rene (born 1685-1700) who married Sarah _____, and died in 1728. When the first Rene died is probably a lost record from Henrico.

Would appreciate evidence and analysis.
