Some more info - surviving children of Louis George Labatte I: Michael, Ambrose, Antoine, Joseph, Louis George II, Catherine (not Elizabeth as previously wrote). Louis George Labatte II was a fur trader and married Agatha Gendron (nee MacPherson)and set up a trading post on Manitoulin Island. He would sail in his boat from the settlement in Penetanguishene to the outpost to trade goods - but never returned one trip, possibly murdered by the man hired to accompany him (truth still unknown). Penniless, Agatha managed to move the family to St. Catherines, Ontario (with children: Louis George III, Felix, Mary). Any distant relatives out there?
