Danied Labar above mentionedk and an elder brother of Abrahamm were sons of Daniel and grandsons of Abraham Labar, who with his brothers Peter and Charles, came to this country in 1730. Abraham, the brother of Daniel, first-above named, entered the Army (Rev. War).

Daniel Labar, father of Col. Abraham and Daniel.

The late A.B. Burrell, in his "Memoirs of George Labar, the Centenarian," says that Abram Labar walled up the spring near the present residence of Richard Wilson, and that he lived there in 1741. Mr. Burnell probably meant Daniel, the father of Col. Abraham

Daniel Labar, the last named, the younger brother of Col. Abraham was born 1763, he married Elisabeth Chambers in 1786. Rev. Elias Van Benscooten performed the marriage. His brothers and sisters are as follows; Catharine married Wm. Steward, a British soldier. J. Depue LaBar- The family reprensented by the subject of this sketch was one of the earliest to settle in Monroe Co. The name is of French origin and had been spelld LaBarre, LeBarre, and La Bar. The 1st representatives of the family in this county were Peter, Charles and Abram LaBar, who emigrated about 1730. Charles remained in Mt. Bethel. Peter near Stroudsburg. Abram, above the Delaware Water Gap.

It was these 3 brothers, probably Abraham, that Danel LaBar, grandfather of the subject descended. Circumstances all seem to indicate that he was the son of Abraham LaBar, as the tradition in his branch of the family is that of his father first settled in Easton, then moved above Wind Gap. Daniel LaBar married a Miss Chambers for his 1st wife and for his 2nd wife to Corneilia Van Etten. He had 2 sons, John C., and Daniel F. LaBar, the latters of whom moved to Wisconsin.
