Hi Jody. I have time for details today so here goes. Remember I am not very conversant in French especially trying to interpret written data, so I make no apologies for errors. Reference: Book 8 Assumption Parish Records Years 1780 to 1800, page 106 item 38: Le deux Juin mil sept ans quatres vingt trois paroises Pretre Soussinge a ete baptisee Marie Sauvagesse de L'abbadie, chez Lewis Labbadie, ou elle (paroipses ?) dangereusement malade, agee environs trente size ans. HUBERT (3 unknown words) Untitled or numbered: Le vingt sept Octobre mil sept ans quatre vingt deux par nous pretre soussinge a ete baptisee Marie nee l'avant hier l'illegitime commerce d' Antoine Louis L'abbadie et d'une Sauvagesse Suateuse. Le parein a ete Jeanne Baptiste Martin. La mareine Marie Catherine Chene. Lesquels ainsi que (???) present une (??? ???). Signe Hubert (3 unknown words) This is the one that should interest you. ANNEE 1784 Item 117B Title Charlotte (????) L'abbadie Le premier Janvier mil sept ans quatre vingt quatre par nous prtetre Soussigne a ete baptizee Charlotte nee l'heir l'illegitime mariage d'Antoine Louise L'abbadie et d'une Sauvagesse. La parein a ete Jacques (????) (???) Martin. La mareine Charlotte Reaume. Le pere present HUBERT (????) I didnt find her burial notice but she was supposed to have been buried the same day. As you can see Marie was baptized while dangerously ill pregnant with Charlotte. She did not recover from the birth of Charlotte. Item 55.66B This is the single baptizmal record covering Pierre, Therese, and Cecile. Also signed by Hubert. Also following are identified records indicating that Antoine Louis had more than 1 panise slave while living with Marie: Item 39S: 5 April 1780 - the burial of a panise killed by accident. Item 271B: 4 Sept 1785 -= baptizm of Pierre son of a panise of Badichon. Parein: Pierre Charon. Mareine: Geneveive Deschetres. Item: the record of the purchase of Mannon. This should clear the history up a little bit. It is best that you look the records up yourself as my data are photostats from 35 mil tape. If you do, pay particular attention the Marie's burial notice. The words I couldnt make out may lead us to her ancesters. Your work can serve to clarify and confirm my data. Good luck and god bless Gerry Notify Administrator about this message?
