The indian women that I traced to the Descomps dit Labadie family were: Marie: a Panise (PAWNEE) slave who bore the Panis Jean Baptiste in 1746. He died still belonging to Labadie family in 1793. The is no further record that I can find of her. The given name of the slave owner was not entered. Lisette: a Panise slave who bore another Jean Baptiste in 1760. I found no futrher records of either slave. The given name of the slave owner was not entered. Mannon: everyone's favourite slave bought in 1775 or therabouts for 75 bushels of wheat to be paid over the winter. Sauteuse woman: anonymous at present, thought to be named Marie but without apparent proof of that. She is known to be at least the mother of 3 of Antoine's illegitimate children who were baptized in L'eglise de L'Assomption dela pointe de Montreal du Detroit. which is known to be the mission preceding the formation of Assumption Parish. It was also called the RED a.k.a. ROSE Chapel. The slave owner could have been any of Pierre the father, or Antoine the son, or his younger brother who was later known as FILLAU. Help is needed to research the original civil and non-catholic parish records for the remaining children. It may just be possible that the mother's name may be on one of those records for the period 1769 to 1785. Notify Administrator about this message?
