I am seeking information about LAACKs from the area of NE PRUSSIA called POMMERN. My gr-grandfather, Carl A. F. LAACK, was born in Pommern abt. 1849. I was told by a son of a friend of his that he was born near where Gdansk, POLAND, is today. He served in a cavalry unit of the Prussian Army before emigrating. He didn't leave PRUSSIA until after his 21st b-day.

He came to WI about 1870 and worked as a lumberjack. In 1871 he married Mary Louise HINZ in Wausau, WI. They moved to Rochester, MN and settled there. He ran the saloon in a hotel in Rochester. He died in Rochester, MN in 1899.

I would like to connect with others who know of LAACKs that lived in Pommern and migrated to the US.
