Hi Sandy, this is a longshot but there are enough similarities that it makes me wonder. In my family I have an Isaac Kizer born about 1842 in Indiana (lived in Bloomfield Twp, Lagrange Co IN in the 1850 census). His parents were Benjamin Kizer and Sarah Gould, from NJ. However, his older brother was named John, and his father's family was originally from NY.
I looked in the census records for your John/Isaac Kizer family and did not find them...could it be possible that Isaac's family did not have the info correct on his death certificate...? My Kizer family moved to Allegan Co MI about 1860. Isaac was in the MI Calvary in the civil war, and I have not been able to find anything more on him after the war.
