My grandmother's maiden name was Jakoway/Jakaway and she is from Tennessee. Her and her 4 siblings were born in Rutherford or Wilson County Tennessee to Hollie James Jakoway(born 5-20-1900) and Stella Elmira (Johns) Jakoway(born(12-5-1901).
Hollie Jakoway/Jakaway was born in Milton, TN(Rutherford CO). to William Jakoway and Anna Williams. I have not further information on his side of the family.
Or family is African-American but I think the Jakoways/Jakaways may have been from Mississisppi.
