I wonder if your Kendall Jacobs could be descended from the Jacobs family of Sussex County, Delaware. Here is an abstract of a Sussex County Delaware Deed which makes me ask:

AH #31, f-229-September 18, 1812-Kendal Jacobs of Rowan County North Carolina, Son of John Jacobs to Curtis Jacobs-Whereas William Jacobs, uncle of the grantor died intestate seized and possessed of certain land and tenements lying and being in the state of Delaware and state of Maryland and leaving no lawful issue of his body his lands and tenements fell to his brothers and sisters and their lawful representatives the grantor being the eldest son of the eldest brother that is in being has sold and by these presents does convey and make over to the said Curtis Jacobs all his right, title and interest and claim to every part and parcel of the said deceased's lands and premises in Maryland and Delaware...Peter Robinson and Thomas Cooper appointed attorneys to acknowledge the above deed in open court in his stead. Wit: Joseph vickars and Betsey Vickars.

I have more info on this family if you think it is your line.
