It has been years since I posted the family I am researching so I will add them again. I have a George W. Jacobs m. 1847 in Rusk Co., TX a Mary Jane Roberts (daughter of Martha Guinn & ?Roberts). Mary Jane was born in 1830 in Middle,TN Mary Jane and George W. have two children: Ellen Jacobs 1848 and William H. Jacobs 1850. George does not appear on any census but does show up on Ag. Rolls for Rusk County between 1848-1853 in Rusk County. A William Jacobs is listed next to his name on Ag. Rolls. Believe George W. Jacobs rented land from the Stockman family. Another clue: a Meshack Jacobs married a Harriett Stockman in this area. George W. Jacobs dies and Mary Jane marries Richard Somerville Lyles/Liles. There is some connection between the my Jacobs in Rusk and Hempstead Co., AR as his son later moves there about 1880. Another Jacobs line in Rusk Co., TX - John Jacobs and and Mary Ellen are descended from John B. Jacobs b. circa 1780 in North Carolina who comes through GA, FL, AL and MS with Joshua and Martha Harris Jacobs. This John B. not only had John E b. 1825 in MS but also George W. who ends up in Rusk County, TX after farming in Dewitt Co, TX. Also a Shadrick Jacobs b. 1777 SC and wife Tabitha follow the same migration path but stops in Clark Co. MS. One theory: John B., Joshua and Shadrick brothers all from Nc & SC. Follow same path. They are at least related somehow. Where my George W. Jacobs fits in is a puzzle. The only other possibility is that he is related to Hempstead co.AR Jacobs: Nathaniel who is in Hemsptead in 1828 and English Calvin Jacobs. Is anyone have an idea about my George W. b. circa 1815-1830 and dies in c. 1853 in Rusk Co., AR. Nan Brandon Notify Administrator about this message?
