I have some similar and some different info on these Jacobs. My husband's mother was a Jacobs born in Howard Co.AR. I have Thomas L. Jacobs b. circa 1765 married Sarah English on 4-12-1790 in Madison County, KY. They had John Jacobs b. 1797KY, Martha Patsy Jacobs 1802 KY, and English Calvin Jacobs b. 1812Ky. John Jacobs married a Nancy? Martha m. Elijah Calvin Baker English Calvin m. Mary Wingfield What I have different is that John and Wingfield Jacobs are the children of John Jacobs and Jane Wingfield m. 5-9-1833 in Hempstead Co., AR. From court records of one Abner Thornton who sued NATHANIEL JACOBS dec'd and his heirs. Nancy Jacobs (widow) John Jacobs & Jane Wingfield Jacobs (she later married a Jacob Brinley and went to TX) and her children John and Wingfield. Lawsuit states Abner Thornton (who was married to a Mary Jacobs - origin unknown) gave Nathaniel Jacobs money to buy land and Nathaniel admitted before his death that he put the land in his own name. Question: Was the John who married Jane Wingfield the son of Thomas L. Jacobs and Sarah English OR was he the son of Nathaniel Jacobs who was married to a Nancy? Were Thomas L. and Nathaniel same man? I found Nathaniel born circa 1780 SC on 1800 census in Spartenburg, SC and then in Logan County, KY on N. border of TN. I haven't found any Thomas L. Jacobs in primary records except for the marriage certificatet in Madison Co., KY. to Sarah English. Can you straighten me out on this? Nan Brandon Notify Administrator about this message?
