Desperately seeking records of Nathanial JACOBS, born 1 July 1847, Gawler Town, South Australia, eldest son of 11 children of Charles Jacobs and Elizabeth Joshua of London, England. Charles commenced business as importer and merchant - Charles Jacobs & Sons - operating from Adelaide and then later Melbourne, importing tea and sugar from Mauritius, and exporting to Sth Africa, England, and I believe China. Nathaniel lived in Mauritius, where firm had tea and sugar plantations, and "Family Hotel". He also purchased and owned a property at Mornington, Victoria in 1906 -8 (at least). He was married to Catherine WILKINSON, from Wales, b. 1842. I know he was 60yrs, in 1908 when he came to Melbourne to attend a family wedding. I have been unable to find any deaths of either N. or C., or other details. Anyone help?? Ruth MacLeod, in Melbourne.
