Hello All,
Is there anyone who has information on Darby Jacobs? Two men by that name were listed as buyers at the estate sale of my GGG grandfather, Charles Gregory, in Person County, in 1843. There were two entries for Darby Jacobs and one for Darby Jacobs, Jr.
I did locate the Darby Jacobs family in Person County, NC in the Census of 1860, and this must have been the Darby, Jr. from the estate sale. He also has a pension application record for service in the Confederate Forces from North Carolina.

An elder Darby could have been born ca 1790 or earlier.
My Charles Gregory had married as his second wife, Mary, "Polly" Jacobs 12 May 1818 in Person County, NC; and I am attempting to see what relationship, if any, existed between Darby Jacobs and Mary Jacobs Gregory.
In the Census of 1850, Mary Jacobs Gregory was listed as head of household, and residing with her along with several other people, was a Susan Jacobs, age 30, and a young male, age 11, named Jesse Jacobs. Mary Jacobs Gregory may have been a widow when she married Charles Gregory; there is little information about her or her family.
