It certainly appears that your husband and I are both descended from children of Johann Sebastian(Bastian) Jacobi--I from Elisabetha and your husband from her brother Johannes. So, hello from a new cousin! My line of descent from Johann Bastian goes as follows:
Elisabetha m. Peter Heiser/Heuser
Maria Heiser/Heuser m. Philip P. Clum
Catharine Clum m. Hiram Reeve (these are my 2nd gtgrandparents)
My information comes from these two sources:
"Hiram Reeve, His Ancestors and Descendants", by Kenneth J. Reeve, and "Palatine Families of New York--1710" by Henry Z. Jones.
I am wondering if you can shed any light on the death date of Johannes Sebastian. Apparently the family Bible indicates that he died 8 April, 1785, and this seems appropriate, but his will (dated 28 May, 1783) was probated 13 March, 1813! Have you ever seen any references to why this developed this way? Also, I would be interested in any information you might have about the Schultes/Schultz/Schultheis family.
