I’m searching for info on the family of my Third GGrandparents: John Jackman (b. 21 Nov 1790 in Boscawen, NH) and Catherine or Katherine Knight (b. 4 July 1794 in Bradford, NH), m. Bradford, NH, abt 1811. First two children were Frederick Beal Jackman and Humphrey Jackman b. 1812 and 1814 in Bradford. I found a 10-year old posting (whose contact info no longer works) that said Katherine “and John had four children, some born in Canada. She died at 36 yrs. old. John re-married and had many children with his second wife.” If this info is correct, Catherine died about 1830.
Questions: When and where did Catherine die? Who are the other two children of John and Catherine and where and when were they born? When and where did they live in Canada? I’ve not identified this family in 1820 or 1830 US Censuses. (NOTE: John’s brother Humphrey lived and died in Abbotsville, Quebec, Can.) According to History of Hillsborough, NH, John married 2nd Sarah Sargent , was in Salisbury and Can., and died in Penacook, NH on 7 Oct 1853. In 1840, I find John in Thornton, Grafton, NH, along with the families of sons noted above. In H/H were 2 additional sons bet. 10-15 and 3 daughters between 5-10. Questions: When did John return to the US? Where and when did he marry Sarah Sargent? Who are their children and where and when were they born?
I’ll be most appreciative of any help that anyone can offer to help solve all these questions, and, of course, I’ll be happy to share whatever info I have.
