I believe that the William Jackman, Esq. who was a Justice of the Peace in Washington Co., PA, could have been related to the William Jackman of Surry Co., VA who was, as you say, the brother of Joseph John Jackman. The William of Washington Co., PA, is easily confused with the Jackmans who immigrated there from Ireland after the Rev. War. Some of the Jackmans in the area of the northern Shendoah Valley, the pan handle of WV, and the SW part of present day PA were descended from older Jackmans of VA. The naming patterns parallel those of Thomas & Hester (Wrihght) Jackman's descendants who went to KY and MO. One John Jackman (b.c. 1710, m.c. 1740-50) who had cildren: Margaret, Elizabeth & George, all married in 1771 in Harford Co., MD, was a loyalist. His daughter, Margaret, m. a Wm. HOWE who became a Capt. in a British Regt. in Ireland at the start of the Rev. War. He later took part in putting down the Whiskey Insurection in Western PA. I believe that William Jackman, Esq. of washington Co., PA was either a brother or son of John Jackman. Have you, or anyone else found anything more on the William Jackson of Surry County who was the brother of Joseph John Jackman? FYI: Joseph John Jackman died w/o surviving children in Deal, county Kent, England. George W. Page gwpage@erols.com Notify Administrator about this message?
