Hi, I'm a descendant of Juliet Elmore(KY 1876), twin of Julia. They were illig. daughters of Dr. Alexander M. Jackman and Fannie Appleby Elmore. Fannie's husband had died on the way back from his service in the war, and it was later that Fannie had the twins--Dr. Jackman then admitted that they were his The girls kept the name Elmore, however. Later on he gave both his daughters considerable amounts of land. Fannie later married a Mann, and had other children.
Jackman was sort of a "Romantic" but I believe he suffered from depression. Poems he had written were published "for the Author" in 1890 by the Nashville, Tenn. Brandon Printing Company. The book starts off peaceful and happy, but soon becomes very Poe-like. He had a wonderful gift for rhyming and beautiful word usage. I have pictures of all the people above (except Fannie's husbands) and I can e-mail you a copy of them if you want.
