Have found in the Newton County Biographical Appendix. (I think was from Goodspeed's, but I don't have the full citation handy.) Thomas M. Jackman was born in Russell County, KY, near Creelsborough, September 13, 1826, and is the son of Alexander and Polly (Jones) Jackman and grandson of William Jackman, who served in the Revolutionary War, and was guard over the Hessian prisoners a portion of the time. He was the son of Richard Jackman, who came from England and put up the first iron works in Fauquier County, VA, but was stopped by the governor of that colony through the House of Lords in England. He then engaged in farming, and his descendants have carried out the same principles. William Jackman was a native of Fauquier County, VA, and was among the first settlers of Russell County, KY. The mother of our subject Polly (Jones) Jackman, was a daughter of Allen Lydia (Baxter) Jones. Thomas M. Jackman is one of seven sons and three daughters who grew to manhood. He followed farming, and about 1869 removed to Bushman County, where he spent about 12 years engaged in the same pursuit. In 1881 he came to Newton County, and located on his present farm. He was married in Russell County, KY, to Jane Warner, who was a native of that county, and the daughter of James and Polly (Stepp) Warner, whose ancestors served in the war of the Revolution. To Mr. and Mrs. Jackman were born four sons and two daughters: Lizzie Jane (Mrs. W. Warner), Allen, Jr., Alexander, James, Mary Ellen and Robert. Mr. Jackman is a member of the Baptist Church and is a much respected citizen. I have found a marriage record for son Alexander to Sallie F. Breedlove on 29 Nov 1892 in Newton County, MO. Am wondering if anyone has information on this line as I am trying to make some connections. Sarah Jane Jackman married Elijah Harrison Bailey in 1791 in Lincoln County, KY. She was the daughter of Adam Jackman and Jane Carroll. Sarah Jane Jackman and Elijah Harrison Bailey had a son William C. Bailey. William C. Bailey married Elizabeth Franklin Pepper in 1841 in Franklin County, MO. Elizabeth Franklin Pepper and William C. Bailey had a daughter, Sarah Jane Bailey. Sarah Jane Bailey married Thomas L.G. Jones. The Jones, Bailey, and the above Jackman families are all in Newton County, MO in the 1870-1880 time frame. Is this just coincidence, or is there a family connection? Am particularly curious about a relationship between the Polly Jones who married Alexander Jackman and the family of Thomas L.G. Jones. Am told his full name was Thomas Levi Glanville Jones, though I'm wondering if that should be Granville. Any help/clues/connections appreciated. Candy Cox
