Jackley Family Genealogy Forum

Pattie, we are related. Our grandfathers were brothers. My grandfather was Frank (Francis) Jackley. He named my father Francis Dano Jackley for which my father never forgave him. My dad at an early age became known as F. Dano Jackley. He was a very well known artist, etcher and architect who spent most of his life in Baltimore. He was born in 1900 in Frankton Indiana. I am his only child and my name is Michael Dano Jackley. I was born on 10/1/42.
I used to love baseball and remember talking to your grandfather in the mid 1950s. Your grandfather made it to the big leagues a couple of times but is in the minor league hall of fame. I vaguely remember stories about his winning a trunk of Bull Durham tobaco and having his shoes filled with very smelley cheese when he was called up to the major leagues. I think at one point as a child I even had one of his catchers mits. I talked a few times to one of his sons, most recently around 10 years ago. I think he was in Pittsburg and then lived in Florida.
I assume you know about our grandfather being wounded in Gettysburg and riding body guard from DC to Illinois with Lincoln's body after he was assinated. I have little bits and pieces of stuff and would love to know what you have gathered. My e-mail is mdjackley@aol.com, and my mailing address is 41003 Snickersville Turnpike Aldie VA. 20105. My phone is 703-327-2583. If you are working on a family tree, I have one child Megan Dano Jackley born 8/12/76 and she lives in Seattle. PS I heard Martha was half french Canadian Indian and her family name was possibly Denault.
