Summary of Article from New York. On January 17,1887... a man at the Pavillion Hotel ,New Brighton.S.I registed as "Ford Jackel" The next morning he found was found by the chambermaid barely breathing. There was Laudanum and the gas jets on in the room & he died 4:00 in the afternoon.
On the table was a letter to "Conrad Jackel,4 West 133rd Street N.Y. " Conrad was this man's uncle. Apparently the younger Jackel arrived from Germany to the city of N.Y. last June...he was born in Alafeld(not definite about spelling)....His brother Frederick is one of the Imperial Civil engineers. His father was a civil engineer of considerable reputation. He was educated in Berlin and graduated with honours. A friend had just secured him a position with the Phoenix Bridge Co at Phoenixville,PA.
I wrote this more for information on where relatives lived & when this man entered the US. Signed ap ( Not related )
