Franz Haberman article from "Fulda Centennial 1881-1981"

"Franz Haberman was born in 1849 in Austria. He married Victoria Winkler around 1874. She was born in 1854.

He came to America where his wife joined him later. She came by herself with a young daughter who was just learning to walk. She told that little Anna fell so many times on the boat that she refused to walk for some years later.

They were at Heron Lake when Frank was born in 1878. In 1879, they took a homestead in Belfast Township, two miles east of Fulda. Franz was a carpenter by trade and they lived in a sod house for several years before they build a home.

In about 1893, a tragedy came to the Haberman family. Little Julietta, who was a twin to Regina, wandered away from home. After an all out search of many weeks, by family, neighbors, and friends, they were not able to find her and had to abandon the search. They found her body in the spring after the snow had melted, in a large slough near their home.

To this union nine children were born: Anna Hallameck, Julius, Frank, Cecelia Wisdorf, Stephen, Conrad, Regina Smith, Julietta, and Amelia Thelen. Amelia, who lives in Great Falls, Montana, is the one one still living.

They lived on their homestead, which is now owned and occupied by Ben Wisdorf, until their deaths, Franz in 1915, and Victoria in 1940."

There is also a picture with this article. It includes: Anna Hallameck, Frank, Conrad and Cecelia Wisdorf, Franz (father), Regina Smith, Amelia Thelen, and Victoria (mother).
