You mentioned Bavaria & Wurtemburg, but I would suggest that you check the Schwarzwald (Black Forest), southwestern area of Germany in the corner near to France & Switzerland. Check in cities of Pfortzheim, Saarbruecken, Freiburg, & in the countryside. I'm directly of PA Dutch, (Berks Co.), lineage. We've yet to find the German Haag family seat. However, in my opinion the style, art, architecture, furniture, & more of the Schwarzwald area most closely matches that of the PA Dutch, more than Bavaria or any other part of Germany. The people are distinctly different, too. I've been convinced the answer to our Haag family lies somewhere in that region. Guess you've found by this time that there are many probably permanent gaps in German historical records, including ship manifests, lost during WWII. No one whom we know in either the Haag or my husband's German family have found a way around this, unfortunately. Please note the name Jerry Haag in the Haag listings. He seems to have the most extensive Haag family info. & has been in quest of the family German origins. I'd be interested to know if he's made any German breakthroughs by this time.
God bless.
P.S.: R U certain that you're looking for German roots? Consider den Hague of The Netherlands. Hague and Haag appears often in Holland.
