I think you may have used the wrong forum unless you are a Generations user. To answer your question there is no easy way to give up on paper in its entirety and anyway don't forget your own excitement at finding old documents. It wont be the same for future generations if everything is reduced to just scans. However I appreciate the urge to reduce all that modern paperwork to something more manageable. I think you might need to search beyond Genealogy software or consider moving over to a package such as Family Historian that copes with more ways of storing and referencing files than Generations. I hope this is of help.
