Hi Patsy:

I checked all the 1860 & 1870 Census from Christian Co MO and I could not find anything on William Garrison or his wife Malinda. Can you point them out for me? I have access to the census files from I also checked the Christian Co MO Census that are on Line and still came up with a blank for 1860 and 1870 on William & Malinda.

I have been tracking William and Malinda for about 2 or 3 yrs and this is what I have on file for them:

Dec 1826 Married in Hardeman Co TN William GARRISON + Malinda SHIPMAN. NOTE: Minerva SHIPMAN married John HARLEY Jan 1829 Hardeman Co TN. Matthew SHIPMAN signed bonds for both marriages.

1830 Washington Co MO Census Wm GARRISON 10001 00001
John HARLEY 00001 00011
Matthew SHIPMAN 110001 12101
William SHIPMAN 00001 20001
Isaac SHIPMAN 1130001 1111001
James SHIPMAN 133101 100001
George Sailling 000000001 0000000001
James, Matthew, and Isaac SHIPMAN are the son of Jacob SHIPMAN SR & Sarah Jane McMINN SHIPMAN. Sarah Jane SHIPMAN married geroge SAILLING on 21 JUN 1800 in Warren Co., KY. So I assume that your James & his brother Matthew was with their mother when she remarried in KY. Two of her other sons Daniel SHIPMAN & Abraham SHIPMAN settled in Wayne Co MO ref the 1830 & 1840 Census of Wayne Co MO.

William Garrison is on the 1837, 1838, 1841 Carroll Co ARK Tax List. You can also find John HARLEY, Matthew SHIPMAN, William SHIPMAN, Isaac SHIPMAN on most of these Carroll Co ARK Tax List.

1840 Marion Co ARK Census Sugarloaf Township William GARRISON 120001 11001 LIVING next door to William SHIPMAN.

1850 Census Greene Co MO Finley Twsp Page 316:
1014-1014 GARRISON, William 41 M TN Blacksmith
Malinda 41 F TN
No others listed in this household but in the next house you find:
1015-1015 GARRISON, John 24 M TN
Nancy 20 F TN and the following children all born in MO: ALFRED 18, FRANCIS 17, CAROLIN 16, CALVIN 12, WILLIAM 11, HETTY 3, JANE 3, SARAH 1, JOHN 1, ELIZABETH 5. I assume that John 1 & Elizabeth 5 are the children of John and Nancy GARRISON. Nancy is listed as a widdow on the 1860 Census.
NOTE: There is an Isaac GARRISON (2d Son??) on page 319 House 1125-1125: Isaac GARRISON 20 M ARK
Eliza 17 F TN
Julianna 2 F MO
Armenta 4/12 F MO

I have Malinda SHIPMAN the wife of William B GARRISON as a Daughter of ISAAC SHIPMAN (Carroll Co ARK) the brother of James H SHIPMAN based on the historical data found on Malinda & William GARRISON listed above. I looked at Roy`s Web Page and see that JARY also has Malinda SHIPMAN as a daughter of James H SHIPMAN.

Isaac SHIPMAN & his wife (Unknown, but could be the Sulette SHIPMAN listed on the 1850 Butler Co MO Census)had children that was raised up in Missouri and Arkansas and there is no research on this family that I know of. So I am trying to find this family (Isaac SHIPMAN of Carroll Co ARK).

Is there any direct data that ties Malinda SHIPMAN to James H SHIPMAN that you may have. If so do you mind sharing it with me?

Thanks for answering my query.
