Most of you are aware that all Gadbois in the world have joseph Vandendaique dit Gadbois (m Louise Chalifour) has their ancestor. I have found serious rumours that the known painter Van Den Dyke is related but never found any evidence. Here is the true challenge. Does anyone found more about the parent of Joseph (Josse) in Bruxels? This is a very difficult task because at the time Belgium was not very secure. Joseph Van Den Dyke (pronounce vandendaique in French) was hired by the jesuite as a carpenter. In fact it is a bit strange that this carpenter was able to write well at that time. He was not very good carpenter and its surname Gâtebois (pronounce later Gadbois) mean that he was detoriating wood rather that improving it.
