Hello Diana Barden .
You are my cousin !!!!!!
Dont be too shocked , as I saw your message on the
Gabriels in N. Z. I hope you see this message after so
long . Your reference to your g,grandmother being a young-
er sister of Mary Ann Gabriel has me very excited !!
Mary Ann who married Joel Liggins in Christchurch, had 6
children that I remember .They were , LILLIAN , ELSIE ,
EDITH , and VERA the youngest child,my MOTHER !! There
were also 2 boys , WILLIAM , who died on active service
in 1917 at Paschendaele ; and JOSEPH,.
Vera , my mother , married Arnold Livesey , and there
are 3 sisters (1 now desceased ) and myself .We were all
born during the 1930s We all remembered Mary Ann as
" Granny Liggins " who died about 1942 at Christchurch .
All the above family of Granny and Grandad Liggins are
now desceased , and as Vera was the youngest , I ( b.1935)
am the youngest of the grand-children left.
My wife Joan who comes from Wales , were in the U. K.in
2004 , and while there visited 2 more cousins , Muriel
Goodwin nee Spry , in Wales, and Rose Marshall in Helstone
in Cornwall, near Camelford .
Joan and I currently live in Hamilton ( south of Auck-
land ) and our daughter and husband and family live only
a few miles from us .We had a son , but he has been desc-
eased a number of years .
Well that should be a pretty good introduction for now,
and we would love to hear from you , and if the chance
