Hello to all you Fadden/McFadden researchers out there. Some of you have already heard from me via e-mail, but I want to shake the tree hard to see how much I can get to fall out of it, so here goes: I have been researching my stepdaughter's roots. I just became aware of the Fadden/McFadden link to this tree several days ago, but have downloaded reams of paperwork about it ever since. I have some serious concerns over conflicting documents between Ancestry.com and the LDS website. There are a number of accounts where James McFadden has been placed with Jane Linsey, as opposed to Mercy Mallory. There are also date conflicts (no big surprise in genealogy). The biggest conflict involves James McFadden's wife, Rebecca. According to some of what I've downloaded, Rebecca was supposedly born around 1701. Yet records that appear with this date indicate her father, John Pierce, died some 13 years prior to her birth. Also, the birthdate given for Rebecca's mother would've made her 62 years of age when Rebecca was born. As I've said to others on this subject, it is not inconceivable, yet I would think it highly unlikely that a 62 year old woman could successfully give birth 300 years ago. Even if this was true, how could John Pierce have been the father when he had been dead for 13 years. My guess is that somewhere in the middle of all this I got a hold of some bogus information which is throwing the whole thing out of wack. Several people have offered to share their info with me and I am grateful, but I would like to hear from as many of you as I can in order to correct these facts. Darrell Jr. passed away in 1991, Judith married Steven Jones (me) in 1996, and now Sara is just like my own.
