Introduction from fellow Eagleton

Hi All
I live in Co Antrim, Ireland. I have been tracing the Eagleson name for some years now especially in Ireland. Due to lack of good record sources I have been stuck on my great grandfathers birth place now for some time. He married in Ireland 1876 and although my name is now spelled Eagleson, he signed his name EAGLETON. Many Scots and Englsih came and settled in Ireland during the plantation years. Most sources suggest the name as being derived from the Scottish surname EAGLESHAM which seems to be true in the short term but I also have my suspicions of Icelandic or Scandavian origins also. There is a town South/West of Glascow named Eaglesham although I don't have the history of where the name came from yet.

Anyway thats the into over, it's nice to see that others are also searching for the origins of the name.
