Susan,

My mother was an Eagan whose father was Eugene F. Eagan of NYC and the 69th Regiment. He served in WWI with Fr. Duffy and before that time was hunting Pancho Villa in Texas. His father, John (J?), was a Captain in the FDNY. The family had roots in Cork and was involved in the Tammany Hall political scene, though I'm not clear on the level of involvement. A brother of John's worked for the post office and I know that his work for them involved detecting and disarming explosives. I don't remember all the brothers names if my grandfather or his father, but should be able to dig them up in time. Perhaps there is a link between your family and mine.
