An online census reading shows the following: 1850 online Hendricks Co IN Washington Twp pg 115b 22 Aug 1850 481/488 Eacret, William H 26 m farmer IN Mary Ann 20 f IN John D 2 m IN Elizabeth K 8/12 f IN 1860 -- another researcher shows the same family living in Brown Township, Henricks County, Indiana, PO Brownsburg. Apparently this reading shows William H as a farmer b KY -- children are: John 12, Elizabeth 11, Margaret J 6, William 4, Mary 2, Henry 3 months. I am not sure if this is the same family, but there is a W H Eacret living in Clay, Hamilton Co IN in 1880, age 57, farmer IN NJ KY; W H Eacret's wife is listed as Sarah J 56, kh, IN TN IN. Two nieces (surname Wilson) are living with them, along with a Wm Hutton. Elizabeth K who was 8 months old in 1850 may be the Elizabeth Catherine Eacret who married 1st to Jacob R Cloe ( on 10 June 1869 in Hamilton Co IN), and 2nd to Phillip B. Stitt (b 22 Sept 1842 KY d 27 March 1917 Danville, Vermilion Co IL). Elizabeth (b 14 Oct 1849 in Indiana) died 6 Nov 1919 Danville, Vermilion Co IL. Elizabeth and Phillip are buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. They had at least 2 Stitt children: Homer Leon b 1880 & Harry A b 1882. One researcher shows that William H and Mary Ann had a son William Foster Eacret, so he may be the one living with the Davenport family in 1880. We would like to know what happened to the son John D Eacret and whether others of this family had ties to Vermilion County, IL, area. We would also like to know if the above William H Eacret is the same one who was in the Mexican War, and if so, what happened to the John D Eacret who served with him? Online info shows the following served from Marion County, Indiana; 1st Regt, Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Mexican War, Company H -- ---John D. Eacret Marion County. Mustered in 20 Jun 1846, at New Albany, Indiana, by Colonel Samuel Churchill, mustered out 14 Jun 1847, at New Orleans, Louisiana, by Colonel Samuel Churchill. ---William H. Eacret Marion County. Mustered in 20 Jun 1846, at New Albany, Indiana, by Colonel Samuel Churchill, discharged 8 Sep 1846. Would appreciate any help. We are looking for more clues on a John D Eacret of Illinois who had ties to the Knickerbocker family. Tim & Donna Notify Administrator about this message?
