Dabneys in Mason County, VA/WVA

Hello, Dabney descendants! My mother's maternal grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Dabney, daughter of Robert Dabney and Catherine Hall. I know that Robert was a son of William Dabney and Martha.

The 1790 census of Mason County, Va. lists:
Dabney Benjamin 68 yrs.
George 29 yrs.
John
Capt. Owen 28 yrs.
No Dabneys in Mason County 1800 or 1810. In 1820:
Dabney, William 2 Males under 10 (Robert b. 1813
George b. 1817)
1 Male 10-16 yrs. (James b.1805)
1 Male 45 and up (William bef. 1775)
1 Female under 10 (Elizabeth b. ?)
1 Female 10-16 (Sarah b. 1810)
1 Female 45 and up (Martha bef. 1775)
Does anybody know who Benjamin, George, John and Capt. Owen were? Does William connect with them? I'm thinking that Williams parents were named James and Sarah. I found a James Benjamin Dabney, son of Benjamin Dabney and Sarah Smith, but that's rather a stretch. Your input will be most welcome. Thanks, everyone. Barb McDonnell
