Here's what we know. "Pete" Doubleman (Dablemont?) came to Alabama in 1887, from Lepenet, northern France, as a coal miner. He brought (later I think) his wife and son (Julius). He had a daughter who lived in Missouri. After his wife died, he moved and died there. Last summer, I visited an 90 yr. old aunt who thought he may have had relatives there who were also from France. He was born in Oshell, northern France. I haven't been able to find either of these towns, but all the spelling is phonetic as I don't think they could read or write.
Let me know if you think we might have a connection, Sandi Pearsall Doubleman
