John C. Dabbs - TN/MO 1829-Aft 1880

Looking for any information for John C. Dabbs (his family and especially that of his parents/brothers/sisters). I can't seem to find who his parents were or where he was living before 1860.
I know there are many John Dabbs which makes it difficult to nail down him and his family. This John appears on the scene in 1860 Franklin Twsp, Newton Co., MO. married to Betsy (Elizabeth) Odonnell (maiden name Jones - Dau of Oliver Jones and Jeanette Brown). They were married about 1855, reportedly, after the disappearence of Betsy's first husband, John Odonnell.
I have good information on some of his children, none on others. Any help much appreciated.
Here is everything from my notes that I have found for John Dabbs. Hope it helps someone, or triggers a connection:

Notes for the family of John C. Dabbs

It appears Betsy Jones was previously married to a John O’Donnell. According to a contact (Ms. Janet O’Donald, researching Odonnell)), sometime between 1850 and 1855, John Odonnell disappeared one day in the woods and was never heard from again. I found John Odonnell, Betsy, and their first two children in the 1850 Newton County census (The only Dabbs in the area was a John Dabbs in Wayne Co.). The 1860 census shows our John Dabbs married to Betsy Ann (Elizabeth) and 4 O’Donnell children living with them. This supports the 1855 marriage date for John Dabbs and Betsy once you take away the children from the Odonnel marriage. By 1870, the first 2 children are gone and the remaining children are listed as Dabbs. I’m not sure if the children adopted the Dabbs name, or kept their O’Donnell name.

Here is John O’Donnell and Betsy, future wife of John Dabbs. Betsy is listed as cannot read/write. The next census shows John Dabbs and Betsy married and living in Franklin, MO.

Elizabeth cannot read/write. All four of the Odonel children are listed as attending school.

The Odonel children listed in the census living with the Dabbs family are the children from Elizabeth’s first marriage with John O’Donnell. The children John and Pheby appear in the 1870 census as part of the Dabbs family. I am guessing all 4 Odonel children were adopted by the Dabbs. This would also explain an 1855 marriage date for John and Elizabeth. Before finding this census, I was a bit confused, now it seems to make sense.

The age for Betsy Ann is inconsistent thru every census so I can’t get a good fix on when she was actually born. I believe the age in the 1850 and again in the 1880 censuses are the correct approximations; same for John Dabbs. I believe he and Betsy were born about 1829.

1870

Betsy cannot read or write. Children from Phebe to Margaret are in school. William and Mary (both O’Donnell) are gone from the household. I’m not sure where they went, or which last name they assumed. John Wesley and Phebe appear to have been adopted by their stepfather John Dabbs as they have dropped their Odonnell name. I’m not sure if this is accurate or not, I need to do more digging.

All children are in school. John’s wife Elizabeth cannot read or write.

I assume John and Betsy died sometime after 1880, probably in Newton Co., MO. I have not located any death information or burial location for either of them.
Thanks All!!
