I did read Charles Steel was given the rank of Lt Col later on, after the crimean war but he was a Colonal or similar. As regards your notes on the Army list war services notes for retired Col Charles Steel these do match records I have read about in the times newspaper on line. Is there no other information? I don't have a credit card and can't access that website. But I am still looking in various other places for information.
