Natalie, Here is a bit more I found. 1880 IRVING, JACKSON, WI BUTLER John, farmer age 62 born Ireland Mary, age 40, keeping house, born Ireland Mary, daughter age 25, dressmaker, born IL John, son age 20 born IL Ellen, daughter, age 17 born IL Ann daughter, age 14, born WI Lizzie, daughter, age 9 born WI all show both parents born Ireland 1870 LITTLE FALLS, MONROE WI BUTLER (indexed as Bulter) John age 49, born Ireland Mary age 42, born Ireland John age 10 born IL Ellen age 6 born IL Anna age 4 born WI ** I don't know where daughter Mary was - missed from census?? ** Mary (mother) did not age much did she. I double checked both census to make sure I copied her age correctly. In 1900 she is 67 but I suspect that is correct as that census has year of birth which hopefully is right. As all of their children were born in U.S. I suspect John and Mary were likely married in U.S. I found an obit for John Henry CAIRNS dated Oct. 22, 1978 Chicago Daily Tribune Mass for John Henry Cairns, 53, a machinist for 16 years with the Tribune, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 129 Grand Canyon Pkwy, Hoffman Estates. Mr. Cairns who died Saturday at Lakeside Veterans Hospital was a member of the Tribute Post, of the American Legion and several other veteran's groups. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, four daughters: Mrs. Linda Jenson, Mrs. Susan Lange, Nancy and Maureen Cairns, a sister, and 3 grandchildren. There is also one for Thomas Knox - dated March 22, 1984 Chicago Tribune but for some reason it will not come up on ancestry but you could check with the tribune. I could not find a death or obit for Marilyn (Knox) Cairns Do you know about when she died? Did she die in Chicago? all for now, Carolyn L Notify Administrator about this message?
