Actually I am Patricia Caviness Perkins .I would look for Sarah Kirks family in the Thomas Kirk and Margot Duncan family .I descend from their son William Kirk ( Agnes Cain ) and they were from Va. William having fought in the revolution from there.
The Duncans were from just over the line in Granville Co NC near the Caviness family ,and I suspect that somehow the Duncan family is tied to the Caviness family .I know that Matthew born about 1744 son of a Henry? also supposedly a son of Henri Cabanis who migrated in 1699 . signed legal docunents for the Duncan family both in Granville Co NC and again in Chatham Co and Randolph Co NC where both families settled on the county line between Chatham and Randolph
co . There are Kirks there also however I don't know of a connection because my William Kirk settled in Macoupin co Illinois after the revolution . I don't know perhaps some of his siblings also migrated to that area . my point being that with both Duncan and Kirk as names you are looking for this might be a place to start with this family
