Phyllis: Simon Peter was my mother's grandfather. His daughter, Pearl, went to court and had the name changed to Cabbott. Simon refused to change his name. My mother tells me that Simon had a very large nose and that once when he was sitting in a bar enjoying a beer, someone asked him how he got such a large nose to which he replied, "I have always kept my nose out of other people's business and, consequentlty, it grew to its full extent." Simon was born in Silver Star, MT on 21 July 1857. He died in Booneville, IN on 26 June 1937. He was the son of James Willis Cabbage and Tillitha Lowe. Tillitha was the daughter of Capt. Simon Peter Lowe and Laura Floyd. I have all of the family data going back to John Cabbage, b 24 Feb 1758. John was a Revolutionary War soldier. If you would e-mail me your address at raddame@yahoo.com, I will send you what I have.
