Surely the simple answer to this is that there is a confusion here between Sir Anthony Babington who died naturally in 1536 and the Anthony Babington who was executed for treason in 1586. Sir Anthony Babington, who married Katherine Ferrers, is in my own ancestry, and I have a copy of his will and one of his widow Katherine. He was certainly knighted, I believe during the reign of Henry V111, but the later Anthony was not.
