Heather, and everyone on the Babcock Family Genealogy Forum, You have all been so helpful. I guess I'm not related to Thankful Barbara Garlick. Does anyone happen to know if Thankful is actually part of Barbara Garlick's name? Here is how I'm related. David Babcock is Rebecca Babcock's father. I am not sure who Rebecca's mother was. Rebecca Babcock married William Clark in Ernesttown Ontario Canada in 1806. I have the list of marriages in Ernesttown. Since I don't have my boxes of papers here with me, I can give you only names from memory. William Clark and Rebecca Babcock Clark had a daughter, Catherine Clark, among other children. Catherine Clark married James Melville. James Melville and Catherine moved to Maple Lake, Stanhope Township, Ontario, when their son was two years old. Their son was William Clark Melville. This was info taken from the 1861 Stanhope Ontario Canadian Census. The Census, and info on Stanhope Township with one of the first settlers being James Melville, can be retrieved from a wonderful website on the Stanhope Heritage Museum. The 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 Censuses are listed. William Clark Melville married Catherine Jones in Stanhope, Ontario, and had six children: Ethel Melville, Florence, Melville, Catherine Melvile (jr.), Edmond Melville, James Melville, and Paul Melville. I believe this is correct, from my memory. Ethel Melville was my mother's mother. Ethel married Henry Clinton Westbrook in 1901, in North Dakota. They had several children: Della,Clinton, Helen, Clarence, Albert, Victor, Lillian, Norma, Doris (Ethel is her mother), Carl, and Gordon. Lillian Catherine Westbrook is my mother, born March 10, 1919 in Fort Rice, North Dakota, and died December 13, 2006 in St. Paul, Minnesota. My mother Lillian, married my dad, Vinton Sidney Wester, b. March 14, 1913, from Minneapolis. They were married July 29, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their first child is my sister, Donna Jean (Wester) Murr, born September 14, 1947, and married Roger Murr, on March 31, 1972. No children. and the second child is me: Bonnie Lynn (Wester) Connolly, born August 7, 1952. I married Michael Robert Connolly, born April 6, 1954,from Rochester, MN. Our firstborn is Krista Joy Connolly born St. Paul, MN October 27, 1988. Our secondborn is Brian Edward Connolly, St. Paul, on April 26, 1990. He just turned 18 yesterday. I have so many boxes full of papers on the Babcocks, mainly trying to find which David Babcock I was related to - the Captain, or the emigrant, and it seems to be the emigrant, born 1756 Stonington, CT. The Captain David Babcock was from Haverstraw New York, Orange County. I believe he was born in 1752. He had three wives. Barbara Garlick, then when she died, he married an Elizabeth Howe, and when she died, he married a Mercy. They had several children. Thank you all for sharing your information. It is so fascinating. Happy Hunting. Bonnie Connolly Notify Administrator about this message?
