Lewis (Lucious) Arthur Babbs is the son of Arthur Babbs and Mary Elizabeth McEndre. Mary Elizabeth was born in 1835 in Henry Co, KY and married Arthur Babbs on February 1, 1855 in Washington County, Indiana. They later moved west into southern IL. Arthur died as a Civil War Casualty in Atlanta, GA on July 22, 1864. They had 3 children: Lucious Arthur born 1856 in Wayne Co, IL and died in September 1880 in Clay Co, IL of Typhoid Fever. Mary Adaline Babbs born 1859 in Xenia, Wayne Co, IL who married John Shewmake. Jane Babbs born 1862 in Wayne Co, IL. After 1865 Mary Elizabeth McEndre/Babbs married a Charles Humphrey, who was born in KY about 1823/1825. They had a son, David Humphrey born in 1871 in and around Clay Co. or Marion Co., IL Mary Elizabeth was buried in the Campground Cemetery, Xenia, Clay Co, IL.
Hope you are still at this address after 6 years? Hope this helps someone researching the Babbs line. At one point I heard his name was Stephen Arthur Babbs, but marriage record just said Arthur Babbs!
