I found a few websites that I thought some of you would find extremely helpful. I learned a great deal about two of my ancestors (so far) that were on the French side of the Seven Years War from a couple web pages set up by Larry Roux. His research is very detailed. This page has a table of the 2 fleets that left Brest, France May 3, 1755 for Canada. It lists the name of each ship, the captain's name and how many cannon's on board. It lists the regiments each ship carried, the number of soldiers & officers and the number of companies with each regiment: http://web.syr.edu/~laroux/docs/doc5.html It also describes the voyage. This page lists each ship with the names of the Regiments AND Companies on board each: http://web.syr.edu/~laroux/docs/docframe.html This page contains a Roster of a good number of French soldiers. If you can find your ancestor here, you can learn the regiment & company in which he served: http://web.syr.edu/~laroux/lists/alpha.html These pages are all posted by Larry Roux. It appears that he is writing a book called, "White Coats". It doesn't appear to be published yet. Suzanne also has a webpage with some information about the Royal Roussillon Regiment, including a roster of solders and details of their arrival in Canada. http://www.colba.net/~vallee/Royal%20Roussillon.html This is her main page: http://www.colba.net/~vallee/Index.html I hope this helps someone as much as it's helped me.
